Subject: ? Dad. If not now then when?
If I am only for myself who am I? If I am not for myself who is for me?
Dear Kathy, I spoke with dad earlier
suggesting to him that he prolongs his stay. Going back to South Africa for whatever
medical papers he needs to fill out in order to get into Australia
doesn’t seem that important given what Leizer has said in terms of him
having prolonged good health, i.e. he only has one good pig
valve and one is leaky, “There’s a hole in my bucket dear leizer
dear leizer,…mais le seau, il est troue chere Ellise chere Ellise…” [sic].
Maybe you first petition for him to come to Australia and perhaps
when all that paperwork is complete he either has his medical exams done here
in the States or he simply returns to South
Africa when you feel its needed.
His next leg was to be in England to meet
Neil. Marie and I are planning to be there in mid April and he could either
travel with us or ahead of us. At the same time we feel he should spend more
time in the States between Melvin and here and not to be alone in South
Africa. He made a point of telling us how
lonely he felt when you left South
Africa and how hard it was to just get
himself going but he isn’t a complainer and he made the best of it. But
its enough of the Pope playing martyr. He doesn’t need to be a saint.
Considering the political climate, his health and the little attachment he has
any more with SA why go back now?
We think Melvin and Neil would fully support and enjoy
Dad’s stay in the US and so
would we. I think you should communicate with him right now before he leaves.
Time is of the essence.
Love
Gary & Marie [MuG]
Ps - Mom what do you think?
